Welcome to
Hope English!
Who for?
If English isn’t your first or home language, Hope English is for you. We are here for all levels - from beginner to advanced.
Where and when?
Hope English is FREE and mainly happens on Mondays at Hope Bromley Common
View Map Hope Bromley Common info
Please note we are closed in school holidays.
What happens on Mondays?
09:45 Cafe opens - drinks, chatting, games - for all levels.
Meet other adults from overseas and practise speaking English at any level, especially through games.
10:45 - 11:30 Class time - students divide into higher and lower groups.
This will usually be a little more formal than our cafe time, but will still include games and learning for your level.
Do I need to book?
No. You can just come, but it helps us if you complete our form:
Learn English Contact Form
Then we can know your level and can tell you our term dates and any extra information.
What about children?
Adults may bring young children with them. We don’t currently run our club for children.
Are the classes “Christian”?
No. You are welcome at Hope English if you have any religion or none. We usually teach everyday topics. We prepare our lessons for what students are interested in. Occasionally that may be faith topics like Christmas.
We do meet in a church building and all our volunteers are Christians from Hope Church. If you want to know what we believe, just ask!
We sometimes run Hope English Alpha sessions which explain what Christians believe, whilst improving your English. If you are interested in these, please ask.
If I can’t come on Mondays, can I learn English at another time?
Monday is our main event. If you cannot come on Mondays, please contact us at: learnenglish@hopechurchuk.org to ask if we have more options.
Is Hope English a formal course?
No. It is not a formal course but is here to support your English learning. You can just come when you can. We strongly recommend you find other English courses as your main way to improve. Use us as extra support and to practise your English with local people.
Who by?
Hope English is led by volunteers from Hope Church and is led by a CELTA-qualified teacher.
