Hope English Classes

What do you do in lessons?

We prepare the activities depending what our students need and like. We mainly do speaking tasks, but do some reading and listening too - plus writing for homework if you want to. There are lots of different activities, including games.

For lower level students classes are about everyday life, like family, shopping, education and health, and topics from family to faith.

For higher level students, we read and discuss news articles, with topics from royalty to radiation and education to the environment.

I haven't used Zoom before – can I still join in?

You’ll need Zoom to join our classes, but it’s very easy to download https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/4415294177549-Downloading-the-Zoom-desktop-client-and-mobile-app

We can help you!

What happens after I fill in the contact form?

We’ll send you the information by email so you can choose your level and join a Zoom class.

Is there homework?

We set homework. You can choose if you do it. If you do, you will learn quicker.

Can all levels join, including beginners?

Yes, we have students of all levels, from complete beginners to fluent speakers. If you are a beginner, have a friend with you for your first lessons if possible.

Do I need to be religious to come to class? Are classes religious?

No – you are welcome to class if you have any religion or none. Most classes are everyday topics, like health and education. Occasionally we will talk about faith topics. We prepare our topics on what students are interested in.

I have children with me at home. Can I join the class?

Yes. It’s easier for you to learn without children – but if there’s no one to look after them, you are welcome. If your children are noisy, please mute your screen.
